Biography
I was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I have lived all my life in Mainland Nova Scotia
except for adventuring in Vancouver, Toronto and a three year stay in Regina,
Saskatchewan (brrr!) Halifax is my home and I love this little city and the people I
know hear. I love dogs, online computer games, nature, dancing, music, board
games, walking, and the friends I’ve known for years with whom I just simply ‘hang
out’ I don’t like television, big cities, or sports. I’m a listener, not a talker. I have a
warped, crazy since of humour and I love to laugh. To learn more, walk up to me and
introduce yourself: it is that easy because I am open minded and very easy going (
but sometimes moody and aloof, like the true artist I suppose.)
Artist’s Statement
Hello, my name is Gregory Brumwell and I am an artist, not starving but with a
hunger for art. Art is therapeutic for me. I sing, write, act, draw: I am a jack of all arts,
master of none… yet. Drawing is what I do most so I have joined ‘Creative Spirit
East’ an artists’ cooperative for people with disabilities. I suffer from mental illness, a
disease that cannot be cured but can be medicated to keep symptoms to a
minimum. Drawing is what I do when its all to much for me. I call my art “abstract
doodling’ and although I see humanoid figures in most of my pictures, I find it
intriguing to hear and see other peoples interpretations. It gives me an idea of what
goes on in the head and then I share a piece of my mind. It can be quite the
icebreaker and usually leads the conversation away from ‘small talk’ which doesn’t
really interest me.
