Artist's Bio
I was born in Brantford Ont where I lived for 35 years and worked as a farm hand and other odd jobs. I saw
magazines with beautiful pictures of NS in it but when I arrived I was so disappointed because all I saw were
the slums of Hlfx. But finally I saw the ocean when I bicycled out to Land’s End in Eastern Passage. It was
amazing to see all that water, for ever and ever. I worked at the Halifax Civic Hospital and later at Camp Hill
Hospital until I retired in 1998.
As a child in school I loved to draw alot, but I’ve never taken any art classes. After I met with members of
Creative Spirit East I decided I wanted to try making pictures and see what I could do. I don’t like to copy
from a picture in front of me, I like to make it up from out of my head. I had some disappointments but I still
went on. Now when I see something that interests me I like to make a picture of it. I’m feel relaxed when I do
my painting.
